Our wellness tips

The height of summer already seems far away and autumn is just around the corner. Don't worry, Natura Brasil has some useful advice to guide you through the change of season, essential for both plants and humans.

Pamper
your morale

And yes, it may seem silly, but with the onset of colder weather, rain and shorter days where darkness and grey skies abound, people often talk about the winter blues or even seasonal depression. It's thought that this affects 1 in 10 people in France, every autumn and winter. A simple and effective treatment for SAD is light therapy, which is well known in Scandinavian countries where the effect is even more pronounced.

If you don't want to invest in a light therapy lamp, you can easily increase your exposure to natural light: go for a walk in the fresh air, well wrapped up, breathe deep and come home with a rosy complexion, but also having had plenty of daylight, to feel better while you wait for spring!

Also great for morale: tidy up your home and make it a clean and cosy little cocoon. You're obviously going to be spending a lot more time over the coming months at home or in your apartment, so let's make the experience as soothing and enjoyable as possible.

Another nice little idea to boost your morale is not to spend too much time alone: invite friends over to your home, suggest group outings, any occasion is a good opportunity to meet up, chat, share some good times and be positive!

Finally, treat yourself to relaxation time just for you, for your well-being and leisure. Even if it seems difficult in your hectic daily schedule, it is important to carve out this time for yourself, to restore your sense of peace and calmand serenity. Whether it's a yoga session, a creative hobby or an hour of reading, these rest periods will refresh you and give you a long-lasting boost.

TIP
To soothe your senses, choose a fragrance that makes you feel good, either warm and enveloping like Cacao and Castanha or alternatively invigorating like Pitanga and Maracujá, these fragrances worn as eau de toilette or as beauty products will awaken your senses and also add to your sense of well-being.

Protect
your hair

Who hasn't thought about cutting off a few inches of hair after the summer because it looks so dry? It's true that exposure to the sun, sea, swimming pool or wind has unfortunate consequences on our hair and that sometimes cutting hair is the only quickly effective solution.
However, if you really want to keep your hair as long as possible and restore softness, suppleness and shine to your damaged hair, first try the Ekos Murumuru care line, specially developed for very dry and damaged hair.

By combining the pre-shampoo treatment with the shampoo and then the mask, your hair has every chance of regaining its beauty and shine. You can also extend the treatment by using the styling balmwith Amazonian Murumuru, which protects the hair fibre and helps to tame the hair.

Here's your rescue package for your post-summer hair, which could complement a new haircut for September if you're after a new look!

Straightening fail

Straightening has gone badly wrong: what can you do?

Are there any side effects that have affected your new straightening? Don't panic, we're here to help.
Whether progressive or permanent, straightening is certainly one of the most sought-after treatments in hair salons. Before embarking on using chemicals, it's important to choose a trusted professional (straightening at home or by an amateur is not recommended at all) and to have the right products available. For example, in France the concentration of formaldehyde in products intended for straightenig must be less than 0.2 % as the substance is harmful at higher doses. Check if your hairdresser respects this standard and do not hesitate to ask him/her to perform a sensitivity test before carrying out the straightening.
Analysing the condition of your hair is also an essential step. "Well-maintained hair will resist damage more easily and handle products better" says Gui Cassolari, official hairdresser of Natura Brasil. He also reminds us of the importance of playing fair with the professional by providing information about any products and treatments carried out in the past. "The chemicals used in previous dyeing and straightening have a big influence on what happens next,", he says.
But even with all this advice, things can go wrong. "If straightening has damaged your hair or if it hasn't worked, the first thing to do is to get a diagnosis of the condition of the hair and then treat it", explains the expert. We have listed the most frequent problems when straightening goes wrong with solutions to fix them.

1. Brittle hair

After repeated straightening, hair is often weaker and more difficult to untangle. If the hair starts to break, you should think about using a repairing treatment, based on keratin, amino acids and vitamins, and intense hydration. The initial stage is usually carried out in the salon, with the maintenance is carried out at home, as part of a process that can last over a month. If the hair is very damaged, the only solution will be to give it a good cut.

2. Scalp reactions

"This is more common with progressive straightening than with permanent straightening", says Gui Cassolari. The sensitivity test performed by the hairdresser can detect some intolerance to the product. But if the scalp shows irritation or flaking despite the absence of any skin reaction, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist.

3. Hair is "stuck" to the top of the head.

This can sometimes happen in the first two weeks or the first six washes. "If this happens, blow dry your hair upside down until it "unsticks" and you get volume at the roots", explains Gui Cassolari.

4. Straightening didn't work

Talk to your hairdresser about the ideal time interval before trying straightening again. "Straightening it twice in a row can lead to brittle hair or even hair loss", says the expert. He also points out that the problem is common in virgin hair because it has closed pores and is less receptive to chemicals.

5. The hair has changed colour

Certain types of progressive straightening can change the tone of coloured hair, mainly on blonde women and those with highlights. "But there are specific products on the market that prevent this effect. If it happens, you can neutralize the change with a tone on tone colour", concludes the expert.
