4 tips for finishing coily hair

Afro, blackpower or au naturel, one thing's for sure: with the right finish, your hair will look simply amazing.
Coily hair with be even stronger with a good finish. Controlling volume and frizz or maxing out those curls: it's your decision when you get to this last step. Want to know how to do it? Take a look at our tips and some from Natura Brasil's official hairdresser, Gui Cassolari.

1. Beautiful hair is well looked after hair

Keeping coily hair moisturised with care masks like Murumuru Ekos Care Mask or Natura Lumina Repair Mask is an important step towards beautiful, healthy hair. You should apply it from one to three times a week depending on your hair. Murumuru Pre-Shampoo and Murumuru Concentrated Butter will also give your hair a boost. When you're washing your hair, be particularly careful not to rub too much with the towel as this can cause unwanted frizz and even breakage. If you are in the middle of transitioning your hair back to natural, you should pay extra attention right from the start. After years and years of aggressive treatments, the hair fibre tends to be porous and prone to breaking.

2. Finishing with the right accessories

Fork comb, diffuser, finger styling...  To make the most of your beautiful curls, you don't just need to know it well, you also need to find the best technique for a flawless finish. The best idea is to try several until you find the one that suits you best. And remember tip number one! "Well hydrated hair is easier to style", says Gui Cassolari, Natura Brasil's official hairdresser. Then it's over to the finishing products: Murumuru Styling Balm and Patauá Restorative Oil are a good choice, but you could also choose Natura Lumina styling cream, which will give your hair a nice shine.

3. Beware of the diffuser

Slipped on to a hair dryer, this accessory is your best friend when it comes to obtaining maximum volume. But Gui Cassolari warns women with very coily hair: "You should be careful with this accessory, or even avoid it altogether. It can cause excessive dehydration, making hair difficult to style", he says.

4. Watch our for the ends

Due to its texture and shape, coily hair is the hair type that has the hardest time drawing the sebum naturally found at the root of the hair down its length. That's why dry ends are a common problem. But don't worry, there's a solution: repair them with an oil, like Patauá Restorative Oil, the final step towards an incredible finish.
