To get your curls back, first of all you have to accept that your hair has volume and curls, and that's what makes it so beautiful. It's about loving your curls and loving yourself with curly hair.
Next, you need to establish a hair routine that is basically a step-by-step way to rediscover your curls without damaging your hair.

If you're used to washing your hair every day, it's time to change! Curly hair needs to be washed average 3 times a week. If you have coily, voluminous hair, twice a week is enough to avoid damaging your hair.

The right way to wash, twice a week, is to distribute the shampoo throughout the hair to remove all the sebum on the lengths. Remember to use a special curl shampoo, like Natura Lumina curly hair shampoo or Ekos Murumuru shampoo.
On clean hair, use a special conditioner for curly hair that will moisturise and help detangle your hair, like Natura Lumina curly hair conditioner or Ekos Murumuru conditioner. Finally, choose a curl activator, such as a leave-in treatment that is applied to clean, damp hair, like Ekos Murumuru styling balm, Natura Lumina styling cream or Ekos Patauá Restorative Oil.

Expert advice

"If your hair has undergone progressive straightening, the best thing to do is to get a good cut to get rid of all the straight parts. Then use the right products to bring your curls back to life."
To hydrate and restore the capillary fibre, you need a range of specific products for curly hair: shampoo, mask or ampoule, plus a leave-in treatment to eliminate frizz. The complete Ekos Murumuru or Natura Lumina hair ranges for curly hair are excelletn options.

If your hair is very damaged, the best thing to do is to go to a specialist professional for in-salon hydration. Take the opportunity to get some tips on how to hydrate your hair at home with the right products.
To keep it hydrated at home, you can apply the Ekos Murumuru range of care products, which is a very comprehensive range, it contains a pre-shampoo, shampoo, conditioner, care mask and styling balm, or the Natura Lumina range for curly hair.

If you have extremely coily hair, with curls that are difficult to define, we recommend using the "shingling" or curl by curl definition technique. Here's how it works: apply a curl activator to a thin section of hair and then define the curl with your finger. Repeat this all over your hair and you're done! The advantage of this technique is that it's easy to do at home, every time you wash your hair.
Once you've washed your hair, we recommend removing excess moisture from the hair with a clean cotton T-shirt. This removes excess water from the hair and helps to define your curls without your hair looking fluffy. Then, ideally let your hair dry naturally, without using a hair dryer and avoiding wind, for perfectly defined curls and, above all, to avoid frizz. But if this isn't possible, you can use the hair dryer as long as you use a diffuser. This accessory reduces the amount of hot air being directed at the hair, which gives a better result.
Here's a simple rule: if you have curly hair, you comb it once, after showering and when your hair is wet, to untangle it. Use a wide-toothed comb to avoid tangling or breaking the hair, preferably wooden or anti-static, to avoid static hair. The trick is to use a fork comb. Ever you heard of it?
Once it's combed, work your hair to define the curls. Then you're done. You can put away your comb until the next time you wash your hair!
Curls and accessories: a match made in heaven! Headbands, turbans, scarves and other accessories can transform your look without making any big changes to your hair.

Expert advice

Curly or coily hair tends to have dry ends because the sebum naturally present on the hair (which allows the hair to stay hydrated) does not run down the length. So hydration is a fundamental step in restoring your hair's natural suppleness and shine, so you can style it how you want.
