Hydration tips
Tips for moisturising curly hair
Curly hair is beautiful but it is often prone to dehydration. Discover the reasons behind this susceptibility and learn how to hydrate your curls.
There are some essential steps to getting gorgeous curls. The more curly the hair is, the more difficult it is for the sebum naturally present on the scalp to spread over the lengths. That's why curly hair is very often dehydrated, especially at the ends", explains Gui Cassolari, Natura Brasil's official hairdresser.
Transitioning to natural hair
Very much in vogue in recent years, and fortunately so, transitioning to natural hair has proven to be a powerful partner in the quest for self-esteem. After all, good hair isn't limited to straight hair. If you're in the middle of the process, as well as patience, you'll also need to invest in a good dose of hydration as your hair grows back. After all, before undergoing the big chop, it went through a whole host of aggressive treatments that probably damaged the hair fibre, making it more porous, among other things. Hair now needs to be repaired and strengthened to return to its natural state.
How to moisturise curly hair
To get shiny hair, shaped curls and beautiful volume, hydration is absolutely essential. It will nourish the hair and ensure good definition and frizz control. The Ekos Murumuru Care Mask, for example, contains Murumuru butter with repairing and nourishing properties. "But if your hair is excessively dehydrated, you can supplement this treatment with Ekos Murumuru concentrated butter mixed in with the care mask to double the benefits. Treatments that can be applied to dry hair at any time of day, like Ekos Murumuru styling balm, are also very good alternatives", says Gui Cassolari.
Before you moisturise, you can wash your hair with Ekos Murumuru Shampoo and Conditioner from the Ekos Murumuru range, or even more specifically use the complete Natura Lumina range for curly hair. These products prepare the hair by gently cleansing, detangling and leaving it soft and supple. "Any hydration routine must start with a good wash with specific products," says the expert.
Optimise your hydration
Concentrated butters combined with a mask, styling cream like Natura Lumina styling cream for curly hair and leave-in oils like Patauá Restorative Oil, nourish and regenerate dehydrated hair, completing your hydration routine. "A lack of natural sebum can sensitise and weaken the tips", says the hairdresser. This is why products should be applied to the lengths and not close to the roots. "No treatment products should come into contact with the scalp", he explains.
