The launch of Natura Ekos featuring the biological asset Patauá combines technology with oil extracted from the fruit of a huge Amazonian palm tree, well known in Amazonian communities for its cosmetic benefits.
Used for several generations by the women living in the "Chico Mendes" extractive reserve, in the Brazilian state of Acre, Patauá oil is a powerful biological asset that combines scientific expertise with the power of nature in cosmetic technology, capable of repairing and strengthening hair from root to tip.
The range includes 3 products: shampoo, conditioner and repairing hair oil. Together, the products strengthen the hair, acting from the hair bulb to the tips, while building strength and resistance, all thanks to the power of pure Amazonian Patauá oil.
"Natura's delicate process for extracting Patauá oil maintains the rich biodiversity of the fruit and thus its benefits", says Claudia Pinheiro, head of Natura Brasil's care products department.
This is the fruit of a huge Amazonian palm tree that can reach a height of 25 metres. A high quality oil is extracted from Patauá, sometimes also called "Amazonian olive oil", which is widely used in local cooking, for medicinal purposes and also as a cosmetic product, for healthier and more beautiful hair.
The ripe Patauá fruit is carefully picked and delivered to the factory within two days of harvesting. Otherwise, it is frozen and kept in a dark place until it can be to the processing plant. First the pulp is extracted, which is then dried under a vacuum, thus avoiding any breakdown of the biological asset during this process. Once dry, the pulp is cold-pressed to obtain the oil, which is then filtered and stored in dark barrels to preserve all its components.
As a result of genetic studies, we discovered that Patauá contains a powerful phytocomplex, which is advanced hair repair technology. Patauá oil has the ability to increase the duration of the hair's growth phase, the so-called anagen phase, by blocking the synthesis of the STAT3 protein. This boosts growth and strengthens the hair. Natura Brasil has already applied for a patent for this innovative action.
