Hydration tips
Tips for hydrating coily hair
Very prone to dehydration, this type of hair comes into its own when it is hydrated on a regular basis.
Embracing the volume and texture of coily hair can be empowering. But whether it's an Afro, black power or natural style, keeping hair hydrated is absolutely essential for achieving an incredible look. Why? Because, as expert Gui Cassolari, official hairdresser at Natura Brasil, explains, healthy, hydrated hair is easier to style. And remember: coily hair is very prone to dehydration. "The shape of coily hair prevents the sebum naturally found at the root from reaching the lengths and ends", he explains. The result? Hair that lacks moisture. If you use chemicals, such as hair dye, or if you are choosing to transition your hair after years of using harsh treatments on your hair, you need to be extra careful about this.
Hydrating coily hair
Whatever step you're at, you should ideally choose choose specific products, such as those in the Ekos Murumuru range or the Natura Lumina range for very fragile hair, starting with what you use to wash your hair. Start by applying Murumuru Shampoo and Murumuru Conditioner as you would normally do. Then it's time to moisturise, while your hair is still damp. "The best thing for coily hair is to moisturise it thoroughly every ten days", says the hairdresser.
The first step is to apply Murumuru Care Mask. For even deeper hydration, you can boost your routine with Murumuru Pre-Shampoo Treatment and Murumuru Concentrated Butter. If frizz is bothering you during the day, Murumuru Styling Balm or Natura Lumina styling cream can be applied anytime and anywhere, including on dry hair by rubbing a small amount of the product into the palm of your hands.
Extra care for coily hair
If you are used to using a hair dryer, there are several things you need to think about. Subjecting hair to high temperatures without any protection is one of the 5 most common habits that damage hair. That's why you should think about preparing your hair with a heat protection product. Bonus Tip: Fitting your hair dryer with a diffuser is a great idea if you have coily hair. In addition to giving you ultra glamorous volume, this little accessory will prevent your hair from breaking.
