Wavy hair types
What are the types of wavy hair?
Curl shape and the hair thickness both vary. Did you know? Discover yours to take better care of your hair
Not all wavy hair is the same, and to classify them based on capillary fibre, American hair stylist Andre Walker has drawn up a ranking ranging from type 1A to type 4C (the numbers indicating, in order, whether the hair is straight, wavy, curly, or frizzy). The letters indicate the texture of the hair and its specific characteristics.
Classified as Type 2, wavy hair is divided into three sub-categories (2A, 2B and 2C) and has the particular feature of not forming tight curls. "This classification is used to identify the characteristics of your hair and, consequently, to adapt the types of hair care needed", says Gui Cassolari, official Natura hair stylist. The expert also explains how to identify your hair type. "Look at the curl size, frizz tendency and hair thickness. Remember that the length of your hair has nothing to do with its type. "You can tell what type of hair you have within three fingers of the root", he says.
Now, why not find out what type of wavy hair you have?
Wavy type 2A
Almost as silky as straight hair, but if you look carefully, you can see that it forms light S curls. The hair is fine and the root is straight. They have very subtle waves and a little volume.
Wavy type 2B
Curls are a bit more defined than on 2A hair but the root is still straight. Curl activators tend to be quite effective to define curls and give them some volume. Some frizz may be visible on the top of the head.
Wavy type 2C
The hair is thicker and the S wave almost forms tight curls. It is usually the one of the three wavy hair types with the most volume.

How to care for wavy hair
Wavy hair can have the same problems as straight and curly hair, including excess sebum (since it often has a straight root) and dehydrated ends, especially type 2C hair. The ideal solution is to hydrate the hair every two weeks with products like Murumuru Care Mask formulated with Murumuru Butter and with repairing, nourishing properties. On hair types 2B and 2C, a good finish can also help create beautiful, full-volume curls. To achieve this effect, we suggest Murumuru Styling Balm, which holds curls for 24 hours. To apply it, massage your hair lightly with your hands, moving from the bottom to the top. Lastly, don't forget to repair the ends and even out your hair's shine with Patauá Restorative Oil.
